Steel Metal Finishes

The gallery below shows various possible finishes for hot rolled and cold rolled steel. In its raw form, hot rolled steel can be inconsistent in color and have light surface rust, resulting in natural variations in finish. Cold rolled steel and hot rolled steel which has been pickled to remove its mill scale has a smoother, more uniform surface which can be mechanically and chemically treated to generate a variety of distressed finishes. Hot-dip galvanizing is a heavy duty zinc based coating for exterior applications.
